Regenerative Medicine in Royal Palm Beach, FL
PRP injections and stem cell therapy administered by our licensed physician. Repair damaged tissue at the cellular level without surgery.
Regenerative medicine at Cobblestone Spine and Joint Institute in Royal Palm Beach, FL represents a significant expansion of what we can offer patients who have not gotten lasting results from conventional conservative care. PRP injections and stem cell therapy, administered by our licensed physician, work at the cellular level to stimulate the body's own repair processes in damaged joints, tendons, ligaments, and spinal structures. These are not pain management tools. They are tissue repair tools.
This is a meaningful distinction. Cortisone injections reduce inflammation temporarily but do nothing to repair the underlying tissue damage. Pain medication manages the symptom without addressing the cause. PRP and stem cells provide the biological raw materials the body needs to actually regenerate damaged tissue. For the right patient with the right diagnosis, the outcomes are significantly different from anything else available without surgery.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
PRP therapy uses a concentration of your own platelets, derived from a small blood draw processed in a centrifuge at the time of your appointment, to deliver a high concentration of growth factors directly into damaged tissue. Platelets are the cellular components of blood responsible for wound healing and tissue repair. In a normal injury, platelets rush to the site and release growth factors that initiate the repair cascade. In chronic injuries, that response has either stalled or was never sufficient to complete the repair. PRP reinitiates it with a concentrated dose at the exact location of the damage.
What PRP Treats
- Osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, and shoulder joints
- Rotator cuff tears and tendinopathy
- Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow (lateral and medial epicondylitis)
- Plantar fasciitis that has not responded to conservative care
- Patellar tendinopathy in athletes
- Sacroiliac joint degeneration
- Partial ligament tears
- Facet joint degeneration in the cervical and lumbar spine
The PRP Procedure
The entire process takes about 60 to 90 minutes. A small blood draw is performed, typically 30 to 60 milliliters depending on the injection site requirements. The blood is placed in a centrifuge that separates the platelet-rich plasma from the other blood components. The concentrated PRP is then drawn into a syringe and injected directly into the target tissue under precise guidance. Most patients experience mild soreness for 24 to 48 hours as the inflammatory phase of healing is initiated. Results typically become apparent over four to eight weeks as tissue repair progresses.
Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy at Cobblestone uses ethically sourced, non-fetal stem cells with the capacity to differentiate into the specific tissue types found in joints, tendons, cartilage, and spinal structures. When introduced into a damaged area, these cells participate in the repair process by differentiating into the needed cell types and releasing signaling molecules that coordinate the surrounding tissue's response.
Under Florida CS/CS/SB 1768, our physician is authorized to administer certain stem cell therapies for orthopedic, musculoskeletal, and pain management conditions. All procedures comply fully with the requirements of this legislation. No stem cells derived from aborted fetal tissue are used under any circumstances.
Conditions Appropriate for Stem Cell Therapy
- Advanced knee osteoarthritis where PRP alone may be insufficient
- Significant cartilage degeneration in the hip or shoulder
- Chronic disc degeneration with persistent pain unresponsive to other conservative care
- Failed conservative treatment for tendon or ligament injuries
- Post-surgical recovery support for joint and soft tissue procedures
Regenerative Medicine Combined with Chiropractic Care
The combination of regenerative medicine and chiropractic care is more powerful than either alone. PRP or stem cells repair damaged tissue at the cellular level. Chiropractic adjustments restore the mechanical environment that allows that repair to hold. If you inject PRP into a knee with significant valgus stress from a pelvic imbalance, the PRP works against a biomechanical problem that will continue loading the joint abnormally. Combining the injection with the chiropractic correction of the underlying mechanical fault produces a fundamentally better outcome.
This is the model we use at Cobblestone. The physician handles the regenerative medicine procedures. Dr. Mammales and Dr. Becerra handle the mechanical corrections. The patient benefits from both working together under one roof.
Is Regenerative Medicine Right for You
Not every patient or every condition is appropriate for regenerative medicine. Active infection, certain autoimmune conditions, blood clotting disorders, and specific medications are contraindications. Candidacy is determined through a physician consultation that reviews your history, imaging, and prior treatment. We will give you an honest assessment of whether PRP or stem cell therapy is likely to help your specific situation, what realistic outcomes look like, and what the cost and process involve.
We do not recommend procedures that are not appropriate for your case. Call (561) 753-2225 or request a consultation here.
