Occupational Injury Care

When Your Job Hurts Your Body

Jacksonville has a working population. Construction workers on Beach Blvd development sites. Warehouse and distribution workers in the Southside and Regency areas. Nurses and healthcare workers on their feet for 12-hour shifts at UF Health and Baptist Medical. CDL drivers running I-95 and I-10 for hours a day. Office workers at the St. Johns Town Center corridor putting in eight hours hunched over a screen. All of them end up with the same kinds of injuries.

Back pain is the number one work-related injury in the United States. Followed closely by neck and shoulder problems, carpal tunnel and wrist issues, knee pain from prolonged standing or kneeling, and repetitive motion injuries to tendons and soft tissue. Most of these conditions don't require surgery. They require proper diagnosis and the right combination of treatment.

At Full Swing Healthcare, we treat work injuries and we handle workers' compensation documentation. You focus on recovering. We handle the paperwork side.

Common Work Injuries We Treat

Lumbar Strain and Back Injury

Lifting injuries, awkward posture, prolonged standing, and repetitive bending all stress the lumbar spine. We assess the disc, joint, and soft tissue components and treat each piece. Chiropractic adjustments restore mechanics. Soft tissue work addresses the muscle guarding that follows.

Neck and Cervical Strain

Office workers, drivers, and anyone with a downward head position for extended periods develop forward head posture and cervical restriction. This causes neck pain, upper trap tension, and headaches. We treat the restricted joints and the soft tissue around them. IASTM scraping and cervical adjustments together get faster results than either alone.

Shoulder and Rotator Cuff

Overhead workers, painters, electricians, and warehouse staff loading shelves develop rotator cuff strain and shoulder impingement. We work on the glenohumeral joint mechanics, the surrounding soft tissue, and if there is a chronic tendon component, StemWave shockwave therapy accelerates healing in tissue that has stopped responding to rest.

Repetitive Motion Injuries

Carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, and trigger finger all develop from repetitive tasks. The tendons and fascia around the affected joint become restricted and inflamed over months. IASTM scraping and StemWave are both highly effective for these conditions. Many patients who were told they needed surgery have resolved their symptoms without it.

Knee Pain from Prolonged Standing

Nurses, retail workers, hairstylists, and anyone on hard floors for long shifts develop patellar tendon strain, IT band tightness, and knee joint irritation. We address the soft tissue from the hip and glute through the IT band and into the knee, and combine cupping and shockwave for stubborn tendon issues.

Plantar Fasciitis and Foot Pain

Standing on concrete all day tears at the plantar fascia from below and loads the Achilles from behind. StemWave shockwave therapy is one of the most effective treatments available for chronic plantar fasciitis. We also use IASTM scraping on the fascia and calf complex to reduce tension at the attachment points. Most patients respond in three to six sessions.

Workers' Compensation in Florida

Florida workers' compensation covers medical treatment for injuries that occur on the job. Chiropractic care is a covered service under Florida workers' comp. If you were injured at work, your employer's insurance carrier is responsible for your treatment costs, not you.

The process starts with reporting the injury to your employer and getting a referral to an authorized treating provider. Dr. Muren is an authorized workers' compensation provider. We handle all billing and documentation directly with the carrier so you can focus on your recovery.

Important: report the injury to your employer as soon as it happens. Florida workers' comp has strict reporting deadlines. Delays in reporting can complicate your claim. If you are unsure whether your injury qualifies, call us at (904) 539-3352 and we will help you understand your options before your first visit.

Treatment Approach for Work Injuries

Work injuries are usually a combination of structural and soft tissue problems. A warehouse worker who threw out their back lifting probably has a combination of restricted facet joints, compressed disc tissue, and muscle guarding that set in within hours of the injury. Treating only one component produces incomplete results.

We start with a full assessment of the injury mechanism, the structural findings, and what soft tissue is involved. Most work injury patients get a combination of chiropractic adjustments with soft tissue therapy in the same visit. For repetitive strain injuries or anything with a chronic tendon component, we add StemWave shockwave therapy. Acupuncture is also useful for pain management during recovery, especially for patients who want to minimize medication use.

After the acute phase, we build in movement and rehabilitation exercises using our turf rehab space to restore strength and function before you return to work. The goal is not just getting you out of pain. It is making sure the injury doesn't come back when you go back to the same job.

CDL Drivers and Occupational Back Pain

Jacksonville is a major logistics hub. Drivers running I-95, I-10, and US-1 spend long hours in a seated position with constant vibration loading their lumbar spine. The result is accelerated disc degeneration, lumbar facet joint irritation, and hip flexor tightness that builds into chronic lower back pain over time.

Dr. Muren is also a certified FMCSA medical examiner. CDL drivers can get their DOT physical done here and receive chiropractic treatment at the same location. We understand the physical demands of the job and we build care plans that work with a driver's schedule, not against it.
